I grew up reading story books and begging my mother and grandmother for that ‘one more story please.’
Everything was smooth, even exciting in my corporate career as a Chartered Accountant until I decided to shut myself in a room and write a story for myself. Six years and two daughters later, I published my first novel, Songs of the Reed. A historical saga, lyrically written to celebrate women and my love for Rumi. It is about war, family, love and redemption. I truly believe a good story should change the way we see the world and evolve us into a more inclusive and compassionate individual and this is exactly how I want to do it, change the way we see the world.
A mother with stories to tell, I am an advocate for meaningful literature for children. Together with my daughters, I have written two and illustrated several children’s books.
It may sound unusual for a chartered accountant—the girl who studied numbers and taxation for many years—to finally discover a relationship with art. I’ll describe my art as an extension of my storytelling. Each artwork is evocative and tells a story in its own way. Painting for me is like a mental detoxification, a journey so cathartic I barely ever think where it can lead me. Welcome to my space.
